The name 'Aabalree' derives from the celtic word 'aber', meaning river mouth or estuary. We have picked up extra 'a' to be top of the class & and extra 'e' because we love Dundee. The remaining 'alr' is an abbreviation for 'alright', Aabalree = A'l be-alree = All will be alright!
Our good vibe & peaceful guesthouse has a flowing & colourful representation of the River Tay's journey from the 'Aber' {Reception & Dining Room}, to the 'River Tay' level {Rooms 10-14}, the 'Tay Forest' level {Rooms 5-9} and attic 'Ben Lui Mountain' level {Rooms 1-4}. Room 3 is our Mountain Lounge where you can relax, meet other travellers and enjoy more complimentary tea & coffee.
You can also mingle with other guests and your hosts at breakfast, with multiple options for vegan and vegetarian diets while we also cater for those who prefer a freshly cooked Scottish breakfast too, not to mention our popular homemade pancakes and unlimited fairtrade filter coffee. All for just £5.
Being enviromentally concious, we source our foods from Scotland and promote recycling & minimalising waste. Look out for our 'AabalGreen' notices.
We are family friendly and have games, toys, books & DVDs to share. We have extra beds, cots and high chairs, and welcome well behaved dogs into our home.
If you are arriving by train, look to your left from exiting the train station and you'll see Union Street, we're the blue B&B sign half way up, on your right.
If you are driving, Union Street has on street parking and Yeaman Shore {at the bottom of Union Street} has a car park. These are free to use daily between 1800hrs and 0800hrs and mostly paid outwith those hours.
Most Bus services arrive at Seagate. The main exit faces West and you walk this way passing the Caird Hall until you turn left onto Union Street.
If flying into Edinburgh, there is now a new express shuttle bus that will drop you off on South Union Street.
